The old year is passing away. A new one
is coming.
No doubt as we look ahead to this new
year we have many thoughts and plans. Most likely some are wondering
what they should change in the days ahead.
Maybe you are one who stands at a
crossroad. Maybe Jesus is calling you to more this year. Maybe there
is something old He wants you to give up. Maybe you are just not sure
what He wants you to do.
What ever thoughts are skating through
your mind right now, I pray you'll take His word of promise to guide
you in all you do.
Remember He is the Shepherd Who said,
“And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the
way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn
to the left.” (Isaiah 30:21) At every crossroad you meet this year,
draw near to the Shepherd and listen for His voice.
For the one who wonders how to change,
heed the counsel God freely gives in His word. “Nevertheless I am
continually with thee: thou hast holden me by my right hand. Thou
shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.”
(Psalm 73:23-24)
If the upcoming year is a blur of
questioning confusion, blinding your vision, stop and wait. Wait for Jesus to make the crooked straight before you.
And I will bring the blind by a way
that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not
known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things
straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them.
(Isaiah 42:16)
And if the sunshine of God's spirit has made it plain what you should do, keep your heart
teachable before your God. Cry for Him to teach you, not only where to
walk, but how to walk.
Teach me to do thy will; for thou art
my God: thy spirit is good; lead me into the land of uprightness.
(Psalm 143:10)
So whatever thoughts are skating
through your mind right now, I pray above all you will trust, trust,
trust in the Lord. Acknowledge Him in every decision, in every act,
in every plan and trust His promise to direct.
We know not what may lie ahead. But we
know the One Who does. And each day, each moment has been traced in the ink of promise by
His nail-scarred hand.
For thou art my rock and my fortress;
therefore for thy name's sake lead me, and guide me.
(Psalm 31:3)
